Wolves have imploded Tex, so we will finish 7th by default and go into the Conference.

As for Moyes, I wouldn't lose a seconds sleep if he left. Same players, same tactics, no plan B, week in week fucking out. And massively fucked in the Jan window. Yep, he can fuck off for all I care.

Re: A Failed Season
Fuck sake Tex, im as gutted as anyone about the Frankfurt fuck up but get a grip and get some perspective!

Unless we really implode we will still finish 7th and Europe again and successive seasons, contrast that to just a couple of years ago? When survival was all that mattered Or even the past 20, we may have the odd good season which is a top 10 finish but we never back it up the following year, we have this time though as disappointing as it feels right now.

We got to the semi final of a major tournament, and should be kicking ourselves for not getting further, how many seasons does that happen?

Bar the big 6, we are the next best team, but have nowhere near the resources or puling power those 6 have.

But you want to get rid of the bloke who got us their????? We are very much a work in progress, Moyes isn’t Pep or Klopp but he will learn from this season, the missed opportunity and maybe he dithered too much in the transfer market, next season we will be better and move another notch up the ladder, like all things in life its not a straightforward path to the top, setbacks and learning curves all the way.

Potter or Howe………..Hahahahahahaha

100% correct on Moyes’ failings…

We need some sombre and sad violin music to accompany this thread Tex?

Re: A Failed Season
Agreed about Moyes

Should have gone for it at half time, the bloke is way too defensive

Yarmo was criminally underused in these games, he has European pedigree, to leave him on the bench was rank bad management.

Moyes got lucky with a group of players who gelled, unfortunately he has severe limitations that means we have to endure his obsession for small squads

Re: A Failed Season
Failed my arse.

YOU (That's YOU that is) wanted European football, YOU got European football - 2 years ago the Championship was beckoning. We just lost a European semi-final.

Sure the January transfer window was one massive clusterfuck - but, well, we are MASSIVE, innit. For the want of a nail, and all that.

We need to beat Norwich, Everton beat Leicester & Chelsea beat Wolves this weekend; it won't guarantee 7th place but make it that much harder for those teams to snatch it from us.

In fact - all we need do is keep pace with the 4 teams below us over the remaining fixtures.

Re: A Failed Season
Not taking this opportunity will come back to haunt us.

Just watch the other teams above and Newcastle push forward next season and we end up mid table.

Moyes is a steady PL manager, but he hasn’t won anything. Just how GSB like it.

Re: A Failed Season
I think we've overachieved this season but it doesn't mean he can't be criticised. switching to a back five cost against spurs in the league cup qf, and it looked like he was still experimenting with such a system in these two semi final games. It's also frustrating that he seemed to learn nothing from the end of that first game when benrahma gave them a lot of problems, and chasing two goals it took him until.the 73/74th minute to bring him on. not buying anyone in january (which I still believe was down to the board) fucked us, but no matter who we'd bought, his loyalty to certain players would still have cost us games like last night. I still think he's done a great job though, and wanting him sacked/replaced because of a braindead left back is pretty moronic

Re: A Failed Season
If you think 7th and a semi final is failure then you’re either a moron or you haven’t been supporting West Ham very long.

Re: A Failed Season
I don't think Eintracht are a better team than us, but they identified and exploited our weaknesses better than we did theirs.

The season isn't a failure per se, but I'd argue the failure to strengthen in January is the aspect of the season that is failed and at some level catastrophic.

In January we were the most saleable this club is ever likely to be to an incoming player...late stages of the Europa, 4th in the league and pressing...it was a decisive moment to go big or go home and whether Moyes, Sullivan, Newman or all 3 (which is my suspicion) they totally shit the bed.

As a result, we're now back on a level.playing field pretty much in the market with Villa, Wolves, Leicester and behind Newcastle, Spurs, Arsenal, Man Utd and the rest of the top of the table. At the time we could have made a case for being an equally, if not more, attractive proposition than Spurs and Arsenal and those below.

That failure has and will continue to define our short term future, was clear as day at the time, and Moyes and Sullivan should not the let off the hook for it, despite the season we've had which has been an exciting ride. I firmly believe this Summer as a result will see us go backwards, and top 10 will be the best we can realistically target next season.

Re: A Failed Season
Think back to the state we were in two years ago when Moyes took over. Imagine if someone told you then that we'd get back to back top seven finishes and a European semi final in the next two seasons. You'd have pissed yourself laughing or told test person he was a certified idiot.

Mistakes have been made for sure (can anyone make a manager who doesn't make them? ) but to call this a failed season really shows no understanding of how far we've come and how mediocre we've been for the majority of our history.

Stevethehammer 9:00 Fri May 6
Re: A Failed Season
I wouldn't call it a failed season but as I've said in the past for all the great work Moyes has done, his fuck ups have been monumental. Frankfurt didn't need to do any homework on us at all, Glasner knew full well Moyes would stick with the usual team. 2 men in Antonio, West Ham's attack is nullified. Bowe. Was no where near Antonio all game, Soucek was miles off the pace and once Cresswell got the red I bet every Frankfurt fan booked their flights to Seville. It was the same usual boring tactics from Moyes, even when we had a decent spell in the game, we still lacked that creativity and in quite a few games it's been the same this season.
Everyman and his dog could see we needed reinforcing in January, considering we was still in 4 competitions and doing well. Any manager woukd have been banging on the door demanding money to get bodies in. It is has finally come round to biting us on the arse like we all predicted. If we don't finish 7th now with 3 games left then yes it's a failed season and Moyes, GSB should get pelters for it. Our best chance in years to really push on and we stood still and shit our pants.

Sorry…

Don’t see Moyes as The Future…if we want more progress…

He’s mid table at best based on his on the job performance…

Doubt the Czech owner rates him…

Mid table at best? Are you retarded?

How is 6th then 7th mid table?

dealcanvey 9:18 Fri May 6
Re: A Failed Season
7th in the league. European semi final.

6th last season.

One of the smallest squads in the league.

It’s disappointing to come up short but demanding a new manager? Have we had a more successful one in the last 20 years?

alfie romeo 9:23 Fri May 6
Re: A Failed Season
This is madness. So called fans calling for the sacking Moyes, geting rid of Antonio, Soucek, Cresswell etc... Most of us remember relegation and bottom of the table scrapping just two years ago!

Moyes has done a fantastic job and all the players have been playing above what was perceived to be their level. What if we'd lost to Sevilla? We had a good run, fair enough but don't let disapointment cloud judgement. Made it to a Euro semi final and came up short. None of that was Moyes' or the players fault. They are tired. Theyve played so many games and we all knew the lack of January signings that could make a difference would bite us so why are we surprised when it did?

I think it's been a great season and appreciate the efforts Moyes and the Boys have shown.

Sajmo1 9:35 Fri May 6
Re: A Failed Season
We reached semi final of a major competition with Dawson, Cresswell, Soucek and Coufal in our starting lineup. The likes of Fornals, Benrahma, Johnson and Lanzini are probably not good enough either. You can be disappointed but calling for Moyes head while knowing he's the only manager capable of doing something like that with this group of players is simply ridiculous and reactionary.
